Thank You!!

Well it has been almost two weeks since our return from Honduras and we are still on fire for the work God has done with our team. We were able to complete the roof on the church and work on the other projects we were assigned. The week was full of wonderful prayer, worship, and a first hand look at Honduran culture. Our lives will be forever changed and enriched by this experience which would not have been possible without your prayers and support. We want to thank you for that and extend you this invitation.

We are having a “Honduran Dinner” for all of you that supported us. It is our way to show you our thanks and appreciation. Please join us on Friday August 15th at 6:00 at the Kingston Fire Department Annex. We will be presenting a slideshow of the wonderful ways God worked through our team.

Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to participate in this experience.

In Christ,
Kevin

Last Blog

Well today is our final day of work. We have finished the roof, poured the concrete and will finish the chairs in the morning. We are heading for El Progreso tomorrow to stay so that we will be close to the airport on Friday morning. We have had a wonderful trip and can't believe we are almost done. We have made several wonderful friends and will hate to leave them behind. God has done wonderful things this week and we have taken so much from the Honduran people and it's culture. This will be our last blog entry of the trip. We look forward to telling you all about the wonderful experiences we've had. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and support. We look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Day 3

Today we were off and running with our church project. Half the team left early to go to the new church and put the roof beams up. The other half of the team stayed back and cleaned and painted 89 chairs. We will continue to work on these projects the rest of the week. We are really looking forward to watching the kids of the church play a game of soccer tonight. We heard they are very good and the games are extremely intense.

Every one is fine minus a minor incident with Gary's finger (more on that next week). We miss you all and encourage you to send comments to the team. We check the site daily and can present the comments at our late night devotions. Thanks Roger for the YouTube video check it out at the comments below.

Day 2

We were able to attend the Teen Meeting last evening. We all played games with the children then sat down to a wonderful service. Several of the teens gave their testimonies which were absolutely amazing. We will share more when we return.

This morning we attended an hour and a half church service, it was wonderful (and no Kevin does not plan to preach two hours next week!) We had the opportunity to address the congregation with a song that we had prepared and a few of us gave testimonies. No work is to be done on Sunday so we were able to go into town for lunch and a little sight seeing. We have enclosed a few pictures of our events today. Enjoy

Hola! We made it!

We all arrived safely in Honduras on Friday evening. Due to weather in Houston, we were delayed an hour but all 13 bags and people made it through customs. We had a 4 hour drive from San Pedro Sula Airport to La Esperanza but arrived to a home cooked meal of hambugers and french fries! We were all glad to get to our beds and crash (5am-11Pm travel time).

We began bright and early this morning welding beams for the new roof, fixing chairs and going into town to purchase supplies. We look forward to the Teen worship this evening.

We have arrived in Honduras during their wet season so we are adjusting to frequent rain storms. We miss you all and will try to post pictures later in the week.

We Need Your Prayers!!!

We are looking for all prayer warriors to help us in Honduras. We are trying to put together a 24-hr prayer vigil for the mission team while we are serving. The vigil starts on July 4th and end when we return 8 days later. Our goal is to have someone praying for the team every minute of every hour that we are gone.

If you would like to help out the chart is posted in the church or just email me with the times(s) you would like.

Kevin

WE DID IT!!!!

We have done it....we have officially reached our $18,200 goal for our missions trip in July. This is a huge milestone for this team and for the church as a whole. I can't thank everyone enough for all that you have done and continue to do.

When we sat down last year to plan our missions work at Salem, we did not plan to take a missions trip until 2009 -- that was our plan. God had a different plan. Through His work a mission team was put together and we are going a full year before we had anticipated. God is good.

Just remember, this is a whole church mission team. You may be on the physical team going to Honduras, you may be on the prayer team, you may be on the support team, or any other team............the point is --> this is a whole church effort. We are all in it together.

God continues to work in us, as a community, and is already at work in those whom we will be serving. Let's give thanks for what He has done and continues to do.
